Activities to be carried out during the project are as follows:
Project Preparatory Meeting (22-24 March 2014):
At the meeting where 35 member organisatiosn of Youth Organisations Forum (YOF) were gathered, work was carried out regarding the structure to be formed, standing orders, the principles and values of the Forum, working groups and becoming a legal body. Two representatives from European Youth Forum (YFJ) had also attended the meeting and after the meeting, there were visits to Youth and Sports Ministry, Sivil Society Development Center, European Union Delegation in Turkey and Technical Assistance for Civil Society Organisations (TACSO). The agenda of the visits included the work of Forum as well as the current situation on youth policies in Turkey.
Local Contact Points Preparatory Meeting (13-15 July 2014):
The meeting which was held right after the 4th meeting of Youth Organisations Forum in Ankara between 11-13 July aimed to support the Local Contact Points (LCP) in 15 cities and make preparations for the upcoming Local Info Meetings. One representative from each Local Contact Point attended the meeting where the LCPs got to know each other and some analysis were made about each of the LCP cities. The LCPs were also informed of the recent developments about the Forum; what changes were made in the last meeting, how the structure was shaped, who formed the temporary Coordination Group etc.
After the meeting both tiresome and effective the LCP representatives went back home to initiate the preparations for the Local Info Meetings to be held in their cities. The project team continues its work on the preparation of necessary documents for Local Info Meetings, providing LCPs with updated information regarding the contacts that were already made in their cities and finalising the meeting calendar for 15 cities.
Local Info Meetings will begin in 3 months!
Youth Field Research (July 2014 - March 2015):
Youth Field Research aims to reveal the qualitative and quantitative specifications of the actors in youth field, define the needs and increase the interactivity among these actors. The main actors of the youth field are youth organisations. Youth organisation will be classified under various titles (legal status, corporate capacity, geographical distribution, theme, target group, budget etc.). Other persons and institutions active in the field producing service, information and policies will also be examined along with the sources of funding targeting youth work.
Data will be gathered for 10 months from all over Turkey, primarily the cities where Local Contact Points are present. There will be 3 phases of the research inclunding survey, in-depth interview and data scraping. At the end of this 3 phase data gathering, the data processed will be transferred to a digital platforma and will be open to the use of the target group. The digital platform will be designed as a user-friendly tool.
Activist training (September 2014):
Activist training is the most direct activity in the project aiming to develop the capacities of young people. The young activists will be given a training on topics such as the Forum and its work, rights-based civil work, youth rights, networking, lobbying and advocacy. After the training, the young activists will take the floor and in the cities where Local Contact Points are present and will give the trainings to their peers at local level who are active in the youth organisations.
Local Information Meetings (October 2014 - January 2015):
Local Info Meetings (LIM) will be 1 and 2-day which aim informing local youth organisations aobut the Forum as well as developing their capacities with the support of Local Contact Points. With these meetings, more organisations at the local level will be aware of the Forum and its work, which would support the quantitative increase in the number of members of the Forum; besides, after the capacity development of the local youth organisations which have become members, it will support the members in quality-wise as well.
International Symposium (March 2014):
At the end of the project's 1st year, the closing event will be an international symposium where 125 national and international participants will be invited. Good practices on youth policies from Turkey and the World will be shared as well as discussions held on the youth policy needed in Turkey. The output of the symposium will be a policy recommendation document for youth policies in Turkey.
Round Table Meetings (May - November 2015):
“Your Right, Youth Right!”, includes lobby activites targeting the stakeholders who have direct influence over the lives and rights of young people. Considering the employment of young people (and also retirement, as retired people of the future), relevant ministries, professional organisations, labour unions; considering their right to information, media organisations and considering their rights to participate, political parties seem to be the basic stakeholders to address. The 9 round table meetings to be held with these stakeholders will be of important influence and they will be of the important activities of the project to raise awareness and visibility of the project as well as the Forum.
Evaluation Meeting (November 2015):
The evaluation which will be held around the mid-term of the project has a number of aims. Firstly, the already implemented activities which are expected to have an important influence, Round Table Meetings and Local Information Meetings will be evaluated to see how effective they have been. Besides, the newly joined members of the Forum are planned to be welcomed in this meeting.Finally, after welcoming the newcoming members and evaluation of the already implemented activities, there will also be planning into the future of the project and the Forum as well.
Local Contact Points Preparatory Meeting (November 2015):
The previously held Local Info Meetings will be repeated in the final year of the project, therefore this second round of Local Contact Points Preparatory Meeting will be organised. In order to expand the field of impact, 15 different cities will be defined as new LCPs. Therefore, the aim of the meeting and the Local Info Meetings in this date are the same as the previous ones. The second activist training will be held in February 2016 and the activist will be active in the local level between March-December 2016.
Monitoring and Watchdog Activities (February-November 2016):
At the last period of the project, some monitoring and watchdog activiteas targeting the stakeholders will be carried out. With these activities, the stakeholders will be monitored and evaluated in the light of criteria defined by the Forum.
Closing Symposium (January 2017):
The final event of the project will be the international symposium to be held at the beginning of 2017. Around 200 representatives of NGOs, government institutions and international organisations will be invited and the results of the project will be shared & disseminated with the participants and the stakeholders. Also, a Youth Declaration will be prepared and published by the participants. There will be panels, workshops, round table meetings and working groups at the symposium. The symposium will be an effective tool to both evaluate the project, share the results and plan future steps.
